Legal Compliance Officer (Part-Time, Law Firm – Perth WA)

Location: Perth, Western Australia (hybrid considered)
Job Type: Part-time (1–2 days per week, flexible)
Salary: Competitive – pro-rata of $100,000 - 190,000 FTE, depending on experience

About Us

We are recruiting for an international law firm establishing a new practice in Western Australia. As part of their launch, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Compliance Officer to ensure our firm operates to the highest professional and regulatory standards. This is a unique opportunity to join at the foundation stage and play a key role in building our compliance culture.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Partners, the Legal Compliance Officer will:

Develop, implement, and oversee compliance policies and procedures for the new practice.
Ensure adherence to requirements of the Legal Practice Board of WA, including trust account compliance, insurance, and CPD obligations.
Advise on regulatory obligations relating to privacy, AML/CTF, workplace compliance, and professional conduct.
Conduct internal audits, maintain registers, and prepare compliance reports.
Support risk management and complaints handling processes.
Provide training and guidance to partners and staff.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

Prior experience as a Compliance Officer/Manager within a law firm or other regulated professional services environment.
In-depth knowledge of Australian legal regulatory requirements, especially in Western Australia.
Strong understanding of AML/CTF, privacy, and professional conduct frameworks.
Excellent communication and advisory skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders confidently.
High attention to detail and a proactive approach to compliance management.
