Venue Manager (Barista Lead) – The Coffee Emporium Shellharbour

The Coffee Emporium is a proudly Australian-owned brand, established in 1991 in Sydney and now grown to over 30 locations nationwide. Built on a passion for quality coffee, fresh food, and genuine hospitality, our cafés offer a warm, European-style atmosphere where customers come to relax, connect, and enjoy a consistent, high-quality experience.

Our Shellharbour store is entering a new phase, with a refreshed food offering, improved systems, and a strong focus on growth and consistency.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Venue Manager with strong barista experience to lead the store day-to-day.

This role is floor-driven and coffee-led — you will be the face of the café, running service from the machine, setting the tone for the team, and ensuring both coffee and food standards are delivered consistently.

Key Responsibilities

Lead daily operations from the front, with a strong presence on the coffee machine
Deliver consistently high-quality coffee in a fast-paced environment
Train and develop staff in coffee, service, and workflow
Drive sales through customer engagement and efficient service
Maintain high standards across display, food presentation, and cleanliness
Manage stock, ordering, and supplier coordination
Oversee rostering and labour control
Ensure compliance with company systems and procedures
Work closely with head office on performance and continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience as a barista in a high-volume café
Previous experience in a supervisor or manager role
Strong coffee knowledge (dial-in, consistency, speed under pressure)
Hands-on leader who works with the team, not from behind
Ability to manage both service flow and team performance
Commercial awareness (sales, labour, and cost control)
High attention to detail and pride in standards
Reliable, consistent, and solutions-focused
