What you’ll do
This role serves as the central commercial leader driving domestic and international B2B protein sales, focused on maximising total margin recovery and ensuring long-term revenue stability across North American and APAC markets. Acting as the primary conduit between Australian production capabilities and global demand, the successful candidate will design "forward-sold" sales strategies, engineer carcass value to ensure every cut reaches its highest-yielding channel, and strictly govern the financial viability of new export products.
Drive Global B2B Strategy & Sales: Act as the lead commercial authority for key domestic and international B2B relationships, designing "forward-sold" sales strategies across North America and APAC to secure long-term revenue and hedge against market volatility.
Maximise Carcass Value & Margin Recovery: Champion carcass optimisation by challenging internal stakeholders on primal yield, ensuring every cut—and any surplus inventory—is strategically placed into its highest-yielding global channel to drive ultimate P&L performance.
Lead Commercial Operations & Forecasting: Spearhead the weekly Demand Consensus process to align processing output with 12–16 week rolling forecasts, proactively managing inventory (SOH) and optimising the logistics network to reduce costs and "meat miles."
Navigate Global Markets & Geopolitical Risk: Serve as the subject matter expert on global protein dynamics, monitoring international trade barriers, tariffs, and market trends in real-time to agilely pivot sales strategies and mitigate access risks.
Govern Product Entry & Continuous Improvement: Lead the financial modelling and "Gate Process" for all new B2B and export products, resolve international compliance claims alongside the Quality team, and implement commercial step-change initiatives to hit broader budget targets.
What you’ll bring
You are a commercially minded leader with deep expertise in global meat exports and protein market dynamics. Armed with a highly analytical mindset and a mastery of carcass economics, you seamlessly blend strategic foresight with the ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships, navigate complex supply chains, and inclusively coach high-performing teams.
Extensive Meat Export Expertise: A deep understanding of international meat market dynamics, trade compliance (barriers, tariffs, cold-chain), and the strategic agility to manage "forward-sold" versus "short" positions based on FX and market intelligence.
Technical Yield & Pricing Acumen: Mastery of protein pricing models, raw material conversion costs, and primal carcass breakdown analysis, ensuring complex customer specifications are met while optimising yield and maximising total margin value.
Operational Agility & Systems Proficiency: Proven capability to navigate complex, multi-channel logistics (export, foodservice, passthrough) under tight timelines, supported by advanced systems proficiency and meticulous attention to forecasting and order accuracy.
Analytical Storytelling: Strong analytical thinking with the ability to evaluate market pricing and product specifications, leveraging data to tell a compelling commercial story and drive strategic decisions around channel placement and revenue maximisation.
Collaborative Leadership & Negotiation: Exceptional interpersonal skills to negotiate pricing, resolve sensitive international claims, and act as the "commercial conduit" across stakeholders, all while leading and coaching team members in an inclusive, productive manner.
