About the Role
The Accountant is a key professional position responsible for managing the financial, accounting, taxation, and reporting functions of the business. The role supports operational decision-making by ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, compliance management, payroll coordination, and effective internal financial control systems.
The position requires strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills together with the ability to maintain accounting systems, prepare financial reports, monitor operational expenditure, and support strategic business planning within a healthcare and nursing services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in formulating and implementing accounting policies, budgeting procedures, and financial management systems
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, budgets, and financial documentation for management and statutory reporting purposes
- Examine operating costs, income, expenditure, and financial performance to support business planning and operational decision-making
- Prepare and manage taxation records, BAS, payroll reporting, superannuation obligations, and other statutory compliance requirements
- Maintain accounting systems, financial databases, and computer-based accounting software to ensure accurate financial record keeping
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable functions, reconcile financial transactions, and maintain financial accuracy
- Liaise with external accountants, financial institutions, auditors, payroll providers, and regulatory authorities where required
- Maintain internal financial control systems and ensure compliance with organisational policies and financial governance requirements
- Assist management with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, and financial analysis activities
- Provide financial and operational reporting to support strategic planning and business growth initiatives
- Ensure financial operations comply with relevant Australian taxation legislation, accounting standards, and workplace regulations
- Support payroll coordination, workforce financial administration, and operational financial processes across the business
Requirements
- Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply
- Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field or relevant industry experience and professional accounting capability may substitute for formal qualifications where applicable
- Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant accounting or financial management experience
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting principles, taxation requirements, and financial reporting obligations
- Experience using accounting software and computer-based financial management systems
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple financial responsibilities
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced healthcare and administrative environment
- Knowledge of payroll systems, budgeting processes, and compliance reporting is advantageous
