About Us

Invidia Foods is an established Australian food business specialising in premium gelato, ice cream and frozen desserts. We supply various food service businesses with high-quality products made with a strong focus on craftsmanship, consistency and flavour. We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our team and contribute to R&D, preparation, product quality and the efficient day-to-day operation of our commercial plant.

About the Role

The Chef will plan and organise the preparation of all flavours, ingredients and cooking of batches across our commercial operations, ensuring the required quality, flavour, presentation and food safety standards are met. The successful candidate will be hands-on, organised and able to work collaboratively with management, production staff, QA Manager and other team members in a fast-paced food manufacturing and service environment.

Key Responsibilities

· Plan and coordinate ingredient production, including R&D to develop recipes and seasonal product offerings, and manage ingredient requirements to support daily production runs.

· Prepare and cook bases for premium gelato, retail desserts and artisan food products in accordance with company recipes, production specifications and quality standards.

· Monitor product quality throughout preparation and production, ensuring consistency in flavour, texture, appearance and presentation.

· Work closely with management, production staff and QA to coordinate operations, resolve issues and support continuous product improvement.

· Maintain compliance with food safety legislation, HACCP procedures, allergen management requirements and workplace health and safety standards.

· Assist with supervising, training and coordinating support staff to maintain efficient workflow and high production standards.

· Monitor inventory levels and control ingredient costs to minimise wastage through effective stock management.

· Ensure all raw ingredients and goods produced are correctly stored to maintain quality, freshness and compliance with food safety requirements.

· Maintain a clean, organised and efficient commercial kitchen, ensuring equipment is operated safely and maintained in good working order.

Skills and Experience

· At least three years of relevant experience as a Chef in a restaurant, catering, food manufacturing or comparable commercial kitchen environment.

· Demonstrated experience in R&D, planning, food costing, ordering, stock control and minimising food waste.

· Strong practical cooking skills and sound knowledge of food preparation methods, kitchen operations and presentation standards.

· Ability to monitor quality and consistency across all stages of food preparation and service.

· Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.

· Ability to train, guide and work effectively with staff in a fast-paced environment.

· Good communication, organisational and time-management skills.

Qualifications

· An AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality or a closely related field is preferred Alternatively, at least three years of relevant experience may be considered in place of formal qualification.

· Relevant food safety certification will be regarded.
