A little about the role
Seeking appropriately qualified and experienced people to join our expanding team of Youth Workers (residential) working in our Transitional High Needs Placements (Complex Care) in the metro region. The position is in a live-in staff rostered home working within a therapeutic model of care. You will provide direct care to Young People in consultation with the key care team. The role requires strong communication and de-escalation skills to effectively support and respond to situations involving distressed or vulnerable children and young people.
- Youth Workers need to be able to demonstrate understanding of trauma informed therapeutic care to assist in deescalating and responding to critical incidents with the young person
- The Youth Worker role requires experience in dealing with children and young people (various ages from 0-18yo) with 'complex needs and behaviours' and the ability to therapeutically manage these behaviours
- In this role you will implement, monitor and review individual therapeutic and goal plans
- You will be available to work a 24/7 rotating roster which may include days, evenings, sleepovers and weekends
Remuneration: SCHADS Level 3, $48.31 - $51.81 /per hour inclusive of casual leave loading. These positions are Casual.
About you
- You will have substantial experience and demonstrated knowledge in a similar role with the social and community services sector. You will have training and qualifications in youth/social work or community services.
- You will have the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with child/young people and adults in different situations. You will be able to demonstrate effective communication in writing.
- You will be able to demonstrate the ability to identify early warning signs of mental health concerns and appropriate response, including risk assessment and escalation
You will be skilled in building trusting relationships to support emotional regulation and resilience in young people

You will be reliable, flexible and dependable with solid organization skills.

- Current TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) and Mental Health First Aid certifications/demonstrable experience would be highly regarded.
