A little about the role
We are seeking appropriately qualified and experienced people to join our expanding team of Youth Workers (residential) working in our Transitional High Needs Placements (Complex Care) program in the Perth metro and Kununurra region.
The position is in a live-in staff rostered home, working within a therapeutic model of care, providing direct care to Young People in consultation with the key care team. This role requires strong communication and de-escalation skills to effectively support and respond to situations involving distressed or vulnerable children and young people.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Implement, monitor and review individual therapeutic and goal plans.
- Ability to demonstrate understanding of trauma informed therapeutic care to assist in deescalating and responding to critical incidents with the young person
- Experience in dealing with children and young people (various ages from 0-18yo) with 'complex needs and behaviours' and the ability to therapeutically manage these behaviours.
- Availability to work a 24/7 rotating roster which may include days, evenings, sleepovers and weekends.
The base salary for this position is $80,006.68 - $ 85,798.44 per annum + super + salary packaging up to $15.9k per year.
This is a full-time, ongoing position.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will come with:
- AQF recognised degree or other equivalent training/qualifications in youth/social work or community services.
- At least 12 months’ experience and demonstrated knowledge in a similar role with the social and community services sector.
- The ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with child/young people and adults in different situations. You will be able to demonstrate effective communication in writing.
- The ability to identify early warning signs of mental health concerns and appropriate response, including risk assessment and escalation.
- Strong skills in building trusting relationships to support emotional regulation and resilience in young people.
- You will be reliable, flexible and dependable with solid organisation skills.
- You will enjoy making a substantial difference, every day, in the life of our young people.
- Current TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) and Mental Health First Aid certifications/demonstrable experience is highly regarded.
