A little about the role

We are looking for a practitioner to join our team based in Eight Mile Plains. This full-time, 12-month contract position will work across our Foster Care and Intensive Family Support (Families for Life) programs as required, with primary responsibility assigned to one program at any given time. Reporting to the Team Manager, you will play a key role in supporting children, young people, families and foster carers to achieve positive and lasting outcomes.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

Conduct needs/risk/safety assessments and develop time limited intensive intervention plans with families.
Providing counselling, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, group work and practical support to strengthen parenting capacity and child safety.
Develop and coordinate service network response for individual families to ensure tailored and effective intervention dependent on assessed support needs and identified family goals.
Participating in matching children and young people with foster carers who have the capacity to meet their individual needs.
Support and coach foster carers to learn and grow in confidence and ability guided by the Key Assets Practice Framework.
Working with children, young people, carers and families in a culturally responsive, trauma-informed and family-centred manner.
Maintaining accurate case records and documentation in line with organisational and legislative requirements.

The base salary for this position is $92,286.48 – $99,294.52 per annum + super + vehicle allowance & fuel card + salary packaging options up to $15,900 per annum. This is a full-time, 12-month contract position.

About you

The successful candidate will come with:

A recognised qualification in Social Work. Other relevant qualifications such as Psychology, Counselling, Behavioural Science will also be considered.
At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience in Child and Family work.
A proven track record in working with and or on behalf of children, respecting and maintaining their individuality and promoting their positive development.
Demonstrated experience undertaking comprehensive assessments and developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing intervention or support plans.
Sound knowledge of relevant child protection legislation, practice frameworks and contemporary best practice.
A commitment to trauma-informed, strengths-based and family-centred practice.
