As our services continue to grow across Brisbane and surrounding areas, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our expanding team.
About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will work with NDIS participants who present with behaviours of concern and complex support needs, including individuals living with autism, intellectual disability, psychosocial disability, mental health conditions, trauma backgrounds, and other complex behavioural presentations.
Using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework, you will collaborate with participants, families, carers, support workers, and allied health professionals to improve quality of life, build capacity, and reduce behaviours of concern through person-centred, evidence-informed practice.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBAs).
Develop, implement, and review Interim and Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans.
Deliver evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support strategies tailored to each participant.
Support the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices in accordance with the NDIS Behaviour Support Rules and relevant legislation.
Work collaboratively with participants, families, carers, schools, support coordinators, allied health professionals, and other stakeholders.
Provide coaching, training, and guidance to support workers and families to ensure consistent implementation of Behaviour Support Plans.
Maintain accurate assessments, clinical documentation, progress notes, and reports.
Ensure compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards, NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements, and organisational policies.
Participate in continuous professional development and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
Essential Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Current registration as an NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner (Core, Proficient, Advanced, or Specialist).
Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Behavioural Science, Counselling, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience supporting participants with behaviours of concern and complex support needs.
Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support principles, person-centred practice, and restrictive practice legislation.
Excellent communication, assessment, report writing, and interpersonal skills.
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
Current National Police Check.
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
Current Australian Driver Licence and access to a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle.
Current NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate.
Enjoy Safe and Enjoyable Meals Certificate.
Infection Prevention and Control Training Certificate.
Desirable
The following will be highly regarded:
Experience supporting participants with high-intensity support needs.
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
Experience delivering training and mentoring to support workers and families.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and capacity-building approaches.
