This is a fixed term, part time vacancy for 37.5 hours per fortnight, available for 12 months, with the possibility of extension, subject to business requirements.

About the role
People, Culture and Standards works in partnership with all entities within the Department and beyond to instil a values-based culture. It is the custodian of the Departments integrity framework which provides an integrated governance approach to protect the Departments integrity, expose and prevent misconduct, corruption, fraud and theft. This will be achieved through robust audit program, by driving intelligence, developing strategic risk mitigation plans and by implementing best practice controls.
Drug and Alcohol Testing is part of Management, Engagement and Intervention with primary responsibility for managing and delivering alcohol and drug testing functions to identify behavioural issues and trends of alcohol and substance abuse through alerts, risk assessments and examination of profiles of employees in custodial environments.
The Senior Drug and Alcohol Testing (DAT) Officer is responsible for administering drug and alcohol tests on specified employees in accordance with relevant legislation and departmental policy and procedures and support the Lead DAT Officer in the provision of evidence-based specimen collection.
- Provide support and when necessary, represent as an expert witness in any staff matter relating to drugs and alcohol matter.
- Provide support in the design of training requirements for DAT in accordance with legislative requirements and departmental policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required in accordance with strategic objectives, business plans, location workload priorities and performance management plans.

- It is a requirement that this position holder is successful in obtaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL ONE security clearance as a condition of employment and maintaining the clearance for the duration of their appointment in this position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL ONE security clearance.
- Ability to travel intrastate on a regular and, on occasion, urgent basis and to be able to stay for varying and extended periods away from the Perth CBD.
- Ability to work outside ordinary office hours, including afternoon shifts and weekend shifts, in accordance with the relevant Industrial Agreement.
- The position holder must hold a current and valid ‘C’ or ‘C-A’ class driver’s license.
Desirable
- Hold the Qualification HLTPAT005 ‘Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing’ or equivalent.
