$115,289 salary (pro-rata for part time) + salary packaging + super + 5 weeks annual leave

About the team

The Perinatal Research Group is led by Associate Professor Clare Whitehead, Head of Fetal Medicine and Associate Professor within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health at The University of Melbourne. We are a small, but growing team committed to improving outcomes for pregnant women/people and babies.

About the role

The Research Nurse/Midwife supports a significant research portfolio, including a new adaptive platform trial called PLATIPUS (www.platipustrial.org). Based at The Women’s, you will be involved in all aspects of research set-up, recruitment and management. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your skills and grow research experience while actively contributing to the generation of evidence to support best clinical practice and care.

A regular day will see you:

Identify potentially eligible families and discuss opportunities to participate in research
Obtain consent, randomise and facilitate commencement of the study intervention and other related activities.
Collect, enter and manage data into electronic databases.
Deliver training sessions and/or otherwise share knowledge and expertise.
Work collaboratively and supportively with members of the clinical and broader research team.

About you

You are a proactive, adaptable and collaborative registered midwife or nurse who shares our commitment to improving health outcomes for pregnant women/people and their babies. You enjoy speaking with families, have strong clinical expertise and are keen to promote research culture within maternity services.

You’ll bring with you:

Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
Minimum of 2 years post graduate Nursing and Midwifery experience.
Previous research experience including the conduct of trials.
An ability to communicate warmly and professionally with families of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Attention to detail, data management skills and a desire to contribute to high-quality research.
Lived experience of preterm birth is desired.
