Role Description:

We have exciting vacancy for Power and Propulsion Technician to join the DCE program's Test and Commissioning team on a permanent full-time basis.

Reporting to the Lead Technician - Power and Propulsion, you will be responsible for supporting the installation, set to work (STW), testing, commissioning, and maintenance of the ships power and propulsion systems. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring the ongoing operational readiness of the Royal Australian Navy's Destroyer fleet.

Based at our Osborne Naval Shipyard in Adelaide, we offer flexible work options and a 9-day fortnight to help you balance work and life.

Core Duties:

Develop and prepare accurate technical documentation.
Provide expert technical and hands on services to projects.
Provide input to planning and maintenance of schedules.
Assist in the design, construction, testing and acceptance of systems.
Defect analysis, resolution and provision of detailed technical reports.
Make decisions and facilitate problem-solving guided by policies, procedures and plans
Carry out isolations of ships systems and writing/reviewing risk assessments.
Attend training where required to upskill and develop

Essential Skills:

Certificate 3 Engineering - Mechanical trade qualification (or equivalent)
Strong post-trade experience in a complex production environment
Strong mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting experience
Experienced with computer systems and creation of documentation
Ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers at all levels
Displays integrity, technical knowledge, objectivity, acceptance of responsibility and maturity
Continuously improve own practices whilst improving safety on the worksite
Self-motivated and proactive to support working autonomously

BAE Systems are recruiting for our Capability Enhancement (DCE) program. Our workforce built and now lead the sustainment and upgrade of the Royal Australian Navy's three Hobart class air warfare destroyers - HMAS Hobart, HMAS Brisbane, and HMAS Sydney.
