About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Maintenance Technician to join our Rail Maintenance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified tradesperson to apply their skills in an industry where reliability, precision and teamwork is essential.
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, fault finding and repairs across rail assets, equipment and supporting infrastructure. You will work towards ensuring equipment is maintained to a high standard and available to support safe and efficient rail services.
Job Description
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the position includes the following responsibilities:
- Carry out scheduled servicing, inspections, maintenance and repairs on locomotives, wagons and associated rail equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or structural faults in line with trade requirements and SCT maintenance standards.
- Complete maintenance records, defect reports and work orders accurately and within required timeframes.
- Work safely in line with rail safety requirements, site procedures, isolation processes and SCT’s safe systems of work.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, operators and trades to minimise downtime, support reliable rail operations and identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency and equipment performance.
Essential Licensing, Experience and Requirements:
We welcome applications from qualified tradespeople across all relevant disciplines, including mechanical fitters, electricians, diesel mechanics, heavy vehicle mechanics.
- Relevant Australian-recognised trade qualification.
- Rail maintenance, servicing, fault finding or repair experience, or similar experience in transport, heavy industry, mining, manufacturing or logistics.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, work instructions, procedures or schematics.
- Clear communication skills, a team-focused approach and availability for shifts, overtime or call-outs as required.
- Strong safety, quality and compliance focus, with knowledge of maintenance management systems and defect reporting.
