About the role

Are you a compassionate and empathetic professional with experience managing complex customer cases and supporting individuals in financial difficulty?

As a Customer Assistance Specialist at Bank of Queensland, you will ensure the customer’s circumstances and well-being are at the forefront of every interaction and decision. You will be speaking daily with our customers or their authorised representatives who have given a hardship notice to understand their situation and provide tailored and sustainable solutions by applying sound credit judgement and operating within our Financial Assistance framework. You will work efficiently, with care, sensitivity and diligence to ensure our most vulnerable customers are treated with the upmost respect throughout their hardship.

You will be required to assess financial difficulty requests across all Brands and Products at BOQ Group for Retail, Commercial and Equipment Finance, while being mindful of the bank's policies, processes and legal and regulatory obligations. You will ensure quality service and support to our customers and internal/external stakeholders including our Branch network, Broker Networks, and Financial Counsellors.

About you

If you thrive in a case management environment and have the ability to remain calm, patient, and solution-oriented under pressure, this could be the ideal opportunity. Your commitment to supporting customers in financial difficulty will make you stand out.

Ideally, you, our preferred candidate, will have previous experience in case management, customer support, community services or banking, while experience exercising a delegation in the financial hardship or credit space will be viewed favourably but is not essential. You have an awareness of risk management and legal and regulatory obligations when assessing requests for financial assistance

You can support the establishment and ongoing delivery of a customer‑centric financial assistance function, ensuring arrangements are sustainable, compliant and tailored to individual customer needs. You will assess financial difficulty requests efficiently, keeping the process clear, practical and easy for customers to navigate.

You demonstrate resilience, patience and empathy in every interaction and bring strong administrative, organisational and problem‑solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.

Ultimately, this role is ideal for someone who values the impact of assisting our customers through often very stressful periods, providing meaningful, customer focused support and takes pride in providing sustainable outcomes for our customers.
