With operations across Queensland, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, Fortress continues to grow and is seeking experienced Vehicle Spray Painters to join our expanding team.

About the Opportunity

We have multiple opportunities available for experienced Vehicle Spray Painters across our growing network. We have two sites in Newcastle in Cardiff & Kotara and we seeking experienced Vehicle Spray Painters.

Working within a professional collision repair environment, you will be responsible for preparing, refinishing and restoring vehicles to manufacturer and industry standards while working collaboratively with Panel Beaters, Estimators, Production Managers and Quality Controllers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare repaired vehicle panels and components for refinishing using approved preparation techniques.
Mix, match and prepare automotive paint colours to manufacturer specifications and customer requirements.
Apply primers, base coats, clear coats and specialised coatings using spray painting equipment and approved refinishing methods.
Carry out colour blending, refinishing, polishing and detailing to achieve high-quality finishes.
Inspect painted surfaces to ensure colour accuracy, finish quality and compliance with manufacturer and workplace standards.
Identify paint defects and carry out rectification work where required.
Maintain spray booths, spray guns, paint mixing equipment and associated tools in accordance with workplace procedures.
Follow manufacturer repair methods, paint system specifications and insurer repair requirements.
Work collaboratively with Panel Beaters, Estimators, Production Managers and Quality Controllers to ensure efficient workflow and repair completion.
Maintain accurate records of work completed using workshop management systems.
Adhere to workplace health and safety requirements, environmental procedures and hazardous materials handling guidelines.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment.
Assist with mentoring apprentices or junior team members where appropriate.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workshop productivity and quality outcomes.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Relevant trade qualification in Automotive Refinishing Technology or equivalent industry experience.
Minimum 2–3 years' experience as a Vehicle Spray Painter within the collision repair industry.
Strong knowledge of automotive refinishing processes, colour matching and paint application techniques.
Experience using modern refinishing equipment, spray booths and paint systems.
High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Commitment to workplace health and safety.
