The Role
Working closely with the Senior Legal Counsel - Commercial, the Legal Counsel - Hotel Development will partner with EVT’s Hotel Development Team across Australia, New Zealand and Asia to provide legal advice and support on a range of hotel development matters with a focus on hotel management agreements to support EVT’s growth strategy for both its branded hotel portfolio and EVT Connect Hospitality.

Key Responsibilities
Hotel Development

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating hotel management agreements, hotel branding agreements, hotel franchise agreements, hotel services agreements, technical services agreements, land owner deeds, bank non disturbance deeds and key money side deeds.
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating MOUs, Heads of Agreement, Confidentiality Agreements and Deeds of Variation.
Reviewing draft Term Sheets.
Updating templates and precedents.
Assisting with hotel business sale and purchase transactions, including assisting with the review of sale and purchase contracts and reviewing due diligence materials.

Commercial and Corporate

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial agreements relating to hotels including cleaning and housekeeping agreements, services agreements, conference and group booking agreements, airline crew agreements, OTA agreements and rate distribution agreements.
Assisting with updating board reports and preparing sign off memos to company directors.
Assisting with the review and update of company policies.

What you’ll bring
The successful applicant will be a qualified lawyer with at least 5 years’ experience working in a law firm or inhouse legal team. Previous experience with hotel management agreements would be highly regarded. Australian citizenship or the ability to work in Australia is a key requirement.

A skilled communicator capable of engaging with a number of stakeholders within the business at various levels and communicating complex information and concepts in non-legalistic terms.
