The Role
Working closely with the Senior Legal Counsel - Commercial, the Legal Counsel - Hotel Development will partner with EVT’s Hotel Development Team across Australia, New Zealand and Asia to provide legal advice and support on a range of hotel development matters with a focus on hotel management agreements to support EVT’s growth strategy for both its branded hotel portfolio and EVT Connect Hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Hotel Development
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating hotel management agreements, hotel branding agreements, hotel franchise agreements, hotel services agreements, technical services agreements, land owner deeds, bank non disturbance deeds and key money side deeds.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating MOUs, Heads of Agreement, Confidentiality Agreements and Deeds of Variation.
- Reviewing draft Term Sheets.
- Updating templates and precedents.
- Assisting with hotel business sale and purchase transactions, including assisting with the review of sale and purchase contracts and reviewing due diligence materials.
Commercial and Corporate
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial agreements relating to hotels including cleaning and housekeeping agreements, services agreements, conference and group booking agreements, airline crew agreements, OTA agreements and rate distribution agreements.
- Assisting with updating board reports and preparing sign off memos to company directors.
- Assisting with the review and update of company policies.
What you’ll bring
The successful applicant will be a qualified lawyer with at least 5 years’ experience working in a law firm or inhouse legal team. Previous experience with hotel management agreements would be highly regarded. Australian citizenship or the ability to work in Australia is a key requirement.

- A skilled communicator capable of engaging with a number of stakeholders within the business at various levels and communicating complex information and concepts in non-legalistic terms.
