Retail Sales Assistant (Casual)

About Naptress

Naptress is a premium mattress and bedroom furniture retailer dedicated to helping Australians sleep better. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service, expert product knowledge, and high-quality sleep solutions. We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused Casual Retail Sales to join our growing team.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Customer Service

Welcome customers into the showroom with a friendly and professional attitude.
Understand customers’ needs and provide personalised recommendations on mattresses, adjustable beds, bed frames, pillows, mattress protectors, and accessories.
Demonstrate product features and explain product benefits confidently.
Deliver an outstanding customer experience from initial enquiry through to after-sales support.
Achieve individual and store sales targets.
Upsell and cross-sell complementary products where appropriate.
Process sales accurately using the POS system.
Handle payments, cash, EFTPOS, gift cards, and issue receipts.

Customer Enquiries & Follow-up

Respond promptly to customer enquiries via phone, email, SMS, website enquiries, and social media messaging.
Follow up customer quotes and leads to maximise sales opportunities.
Maintain regular communication with customers regarding deliveries, orders, and product enquiries.
Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when required.
Follow up after delivery to ensure customer satisfaction and encourage reviews and referrals.

Store Presentation & Housekeeping

Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming showroom at all times.
Make and dress display beds to showroom standards.
Dust, vacuum, and clean display furniture and products.
Ensure all pricing, signage, and promotional materials are current and displayed correctly.
Restock pillows, bedding accessories, brochures, and promotional materials.
Assist with visual merchandising and showroom layout updates.

Stock & Inventory

Receive and unpack deliveries.
Assist with stock replenishment and inventory counts.
Monitor stock levels and notify management of low-stock items.
Organise stockrooms and ensure products are stored safely and efficiently.

Administration

Answer incoming phone calls professionally.
Process customer orders accurately.
Maintain customer records within the CRM/POS system.
Prepare quotations and invoices.
Coordinate delivery bookings and communicate with warehouse and delivery teams.
Complete daily paperwork and administrative tasks.
Assist with warranty claims and after-sales service administration.

Social Media & Marketing Support

Create basic social media content, including photos, short videos, and simple promotional posts.
Assist in maintaining Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms.
Capture showroom displays, new arrivals, and customer testimonials (where appropriate).
Support in-store promotions, campaigns, and special events.

Opening & Closing Duties

Open and prepare the showroom for trading.
Complete daily opening and closing checklists.
Balance the cash register and complete end-of-day procedures.
Secure the showroom and ensure all equipment is switched off before closing.

General Responsibilities

Maintain excellent product knowledge through ongoing training.
Stay informed about current promotions, pricing, and new product launches.
Represent the Naptress brand professionally at all times.
Work collaboratively with team members to achieve store goals.
Assist at promotional events, trade shows, or pop-up locations when required.
Perform other reasonable duties as requested by management.

About You

You are someone who genuinely enjoys helping people and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service.

You will ideally have:

Previous retail, sales, or customer service experience (furniture or bedding industry experience is highly regarded but not essential).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A positive, proactive, and professional attitude.
Strong sales ability with confidence in building rapport with customers.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Basic computer skills and confidence using POS systems, email, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
Basic social media skills, including taking photos and creating simple posts.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility.
Availability to work weekends, public holidays, and peak retail periods.
Ability to lift and move pillows, bedding products, and light showroom items.
