About the role

The City of Sydney has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Surveyor to join our Planning Assessments Team, responsible for advising the public, applicants and land owners on development applications. These applications range from small scale alterations, additions and changes of use through to major residential and commercial development proposals.

In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective assessment of subdivision related and other small scale development applications, and for providing advice to ensure planning and development proposals comply with statutory requirements and Council policies and objectives.

We're looking for someone with:

University Degree in Surveying (Land) or equivalent or must have completed all required course work and be imminently eligible for graduation (must be a NSW Board of Surveying & Spatial Information recognised qualification)
registration by the NSW Board of Surveying & Spatial Information as a Registered Land Surveyor, or be progressing towards meeting the requirements to apply for such registration with BOSSI
knowledge and understanding of the Surveying and Spatial Information Act 2002, the Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2024 and the Surveyor General’s Directions
experience in the assessment and resolution of subdivision and legal issues associated with applications for development applications, subdivision certificates and strata certificates would be preferable.

This role has the option of a rostered day off, either as a 19-day month or 9-day fortnight (team based flexible working arrangement).

The recommended applicant must complete a pre-employment health declaration and medical assessment check.
