The impact you'll have:

At the Workplace Injury Commission, we've helped thousands of injured workers and employers to resolve their disputes and move forward with their lives. We're a robust Victorian Government statutory authority that's making an impact.

As we embark on an exciting transformation journey, we need you to join us as a Dispute Officer. Working alongside Conciliation Officers (COs), you will lead case management of conciliation disputes assessing each dispute at the outset and proactively engaging with Injured Workers and other parties. You will work autonomously to assist and empower all parties to participate effectively, make decisions and reach agreement when possible.

Equipped with your experience in case management, alternative dispute resolution or conflict resolution, you will provide a prompt, high quality service to all parties, engaging effectively, consistently and professionally. You will use your legal and technical knowledge to review documentation, legal processes and medical terminology to resolve disputes.

You will be joining a newly created multi-disciplinary team with existing Conciliation Officers and new Dispute Officers. Along with your demonstrated experience, you will bring your positive work ethic and collaborative style.

Who we're looking for:

To succeed in this role, you will have:

Experience in case management, alternative dispute resolution or conflict resolution, ideally within a workers' compensation or related setting

Well-developed analytical and decision-making skills with the capacity to understand and apply legislation, policy and procedure

Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to engage proactively, respectfully, fairly and patiently with parties, stakeholders and other staff

Advanced interpersonal skills with a strong client-service orientation and willingness to support internal and external stakeholders

Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills and along with the ability to identify appropriate solutions to problems
