The opportunity:
We’re excited to introduce a newly created Legal Secretary role within our General Liability team in Melbourne.
This role is ideal for a Legal Secretary with 2–5 years’ experience who is ready to take the next step, broaden their exposure to complex litigation, and play a more integral role within a high‑performing team. You’ll support a Partner and their team of lawyers across a busy and varied practice, gaining hands‑on experience while continuing to build your career in insurance litigation.

What you’ll do:
- Provide end‑to‑end administrative support to a busy litigation team. Working alongside
- Assist with legal billing, including time entry, invoice preparation and liaising with clients and finance teams
- Manage calendars, meetings and critical deadlines to support effective matter management
- Prepare, format and proofread legal documents with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Maintain and manage electronic and physical files in line with best practice
- Liaise professionally with clients, barristers, courts and other external stakeholders
- Confidently use MS Office and legal practice systems
- Balance competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Take initiative, anticipate team needs and contribute to continuous improvement
- Work collaboratively with your team to support excellent client outcomes
What you’ll bring:
- 2–5 years’ experience in a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary role
- Experience supporting a litigation practice, ideally within insurance law
- A practical understanding of Victorian court systems and litigation processes
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Clear, professional communication skills and a client‑focused mindset
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines with confidence
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- A positive, proactive approach and genuine interest in continuing to develop your legal career
