About the role:

Western Health has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated pharmacist to join our team as Senior Pharmacist – Medicines Governance.

This is a dynamic opportunity for a pharmacist passionate about driving innovation, standardisation, efficiency and supporting best care regarding medication use at our organisation.

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in leading medicines governance across our health service. This position provides expert leadership in PBS operations, formulary management, Individual Patient Use (IPU) processes, medicines policy governance and support for the Drug and Therapeutics Committee.

Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will help ensure the safe, effective and sustainable use of medicines while driving quality improvement, operational excellence and best practice across Western Health.

This position is a fixed term (until 20th January 2028), full-time (80 hours per fortnight) and available now!

Key responsibilities:

Ensure that PBS operations are efficiently managed at all Western Health (WH) sites
To support the activities of the Drug and Therapeutics Committee
To coordinate the governance and process of Individual Patient Use (IPU) applications, medication access programs and non-formulary medicines, ensuring appropriate stewardship of high-cost medicines
To ensure that Policies, Procedures and Guidelines (PPGs) sponsored by the Director of Pharmacy are updated and published by their review date. They will also ensure that requests for pharmacist review of non-Pharmacy sponsored PPGs are completed in accordance with the Western Health PPG Framework, including liaison with Lead and Senior Pharmacists in specialist areas

About you:

Experience engaging with multidisciplinary stakeholders to shape clinical policy and service delivery
Demonstrated expertise in the development and governance of clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines
Excellent word processing, spread sheet and database software skills
Experience in providing pharmacy services to a broad range of specialty areas
Well-developed written, oral, interpersonal, communication, negotiation and conflict management skills and the ability to co-operate with hospital staff and patients
Sound knowledge and understanding of all relevant aspects of pharmacy services, particularly a demonstrated ability to practice in accordance with the AdPha Guidelines
Experience in providing education and training to pharmacy staff and students
Demonstrated capability to meet multiple time constraints and to determine workload priorities in order to complete targets by the set deadline
