Reporting to the Education Manager – Interior Design Building Construction, this role is responsible for the planning, delivery, assessment and coordination of high-quality vocational education and training programs in Building Surveying across a range of learning environments.
You will support students throughout the learning lifecycle, contribute to curriculum development, coordinate program operations and ensure training delivery aligns with regulatory, quality and compliance requirements. The role also provides mentoring and educational leadership support to teaching staff while promoting best practice teaching, industry engagement and continuous improvement. This role suits an experienced industry professional who is passionate about sharing their expertise and supporting learner success.
What You'll Do
- Plan, prepare, deliver and assess Building Surveying programs aligned to accredited training requirements
- Createsafe, inclusive and engaging learning environments that support diverse learners
- Develop and adapt teaching, assessment and curriculum materials aligned to industry standards and updated training packages
- Coordinate aspects of program delivery including timetabling, attendance monitoring and resource planning
- Support student engagement, progress and wellbeing, including learning plans and reasonable adjustments where required
- Mentor and support Level 1 and Level 2 teachers, including Teachers Under Supervision (TUS)
- Participate in validation, moderation and continuous improvementactivities to ensure compliance and quality outcomes
- Maintain accurate training, assessment and compliance documentation in accordance with audit and regulatory requirements
- Engage with industry, professional bodies and stakeholders to support best practice and promote programs
- Assist with orientation, enrolment planning, student support and departmental activities
- Relevant vocational qualifications and current industry experience in Building Surveying or a related discipline
- Extensive teaching experience with demonstrated ability to deliver, assess and contextualise vocational education programs
- Strong understanding of learner-centred teaching practices and diverse teaching methodologies
- Demonstrated experience coordinating programs, planning workloads and meeting operational deadlines
- Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to mentor, support and collaborate with teaching staff and stakeholders
- Sound understanding of VET quality, compliance and regulatory requirements
- Strong ICT capability to support e-learning, reporting and resource development
- Commitment to Occupational Health & Safety, continuous improvement and quality assurance practices
- Knowledge of current issues and trends in vocational education and training relevant to Building Surveying
- Experience building industry partnerships and supporting student engagement initiatives
- Experience contributing to curriculum design and innovation within vocational education environments
Qualifications & Mandatory Checks
Appointment to this position is subject to meeting the qualification requirements (where applicable) and the successful completion of all mandatory employment checks.
Teaching Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the qualification requirements under the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Agreement 2024 and relevant regulatory standards.
You will have:
- Relevant qualifications in your discipline area
- Recent and relevant industry and/or teaching experience
In addition, depending on the role:
- Vocational Education and Training (VET) roles:
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent), or a diploma or higher qualification in adult or vocational education
- Non-Vocational Education roles (e.g. EAL, AMEP, SEE, Foundation, VCE):
A recognised teaching qualification appropriate to the program (e.g. postgraduate TESOL or equivalent), and demonstrated teaching capability through relevantexperience
Applicants who can demonstrate equivalent teaching capability through a combination of qualifications and experience may also be considered.
