This role is responsible for delivering on-ground management of parks and reserves, including conservation, infrastructure maintenance, visitor services, and community engagement to protect natural and cultural values while providing positive visitor experiences. It involves working as part of a team to deliver projects, support partnerships (including with Traditional Owners), ensure compliance and safety, and contribute to emergency and fire management activities.

About the role

As a Ranger, you are responsible for the on-ground management and maintenance of built assets including, visitor facilities, services infrastructure, lookouts and walking tracks within Mornington Peninsula National Park, ensuring that visitors can safely enjoy passive recreation in natural areas while also protecting the things that make the national park special. You will demonstrate a strong personal work ethic and also actively participate and contribute to a dynamic and supportive team environment.

This role is physically demanding and will often involve manual outdoor field duties to be carried out on a daily, weekly or regular basis in all conditions, and, sometimes in semi-remote areas. Candidates should have a reasonable level of fitness and health and without significant medical issues that will prevent undertaking the inherent tasks of a field based Ranger.

We're looking for someone with:

Relevant Trade or Technical Qualifications, or related management of natural resources (landscaping, carpentry, horticulture or similar trades would be highly regarded)
Skills and experience in hands-on field operational delivery, such as construction, landscaping, vegetation management, roading and plant and equipment operation.
Demonstrated self-motivation and personal organisation, time management and ability to work autonomously.
Strong personal communication skills and confidence to engage with park visitors and stakeholders.
An interest and passion for environmental conservation, park management and providing quality visitor facilities.
