Multiple locations within Hobsons Bay
Casual Position (only week day shifts during school term)
Salary: Band 5 - from $49.44/hr including casual loading+ superannuation

The opportunity

We are looking for an Early Years Resource & Support Officer (Playgroups) to join us on a casual basis. In this role, you’ll create inclusive, engaging playgroup experiences that support children’s development and empower parents and caregivers. This role focuses on building strong relationships with families from diverse backgrounds, guiding them to actively support their children’s learning through play, while contributing to community capacity and wellbeing. This opportunity has become available due to the growing needs of the team and to provide additional support during staff leave and absences. The role offers consistent weekday shifts during school term with no weekend work required, supporting a healthy work-life balance. While flexibility across available shifts is valued, availability on Wednesdays is highly desirable and will be strongly preferred. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive team, gain valuable experience, and contribute to a workplace that values teamwork, flexibility, and excellent service delivery.

What you’ll do

Design and facilitate inclusive, developmentally appropriate playgroup programs
Support parents/carers to build confidence in early learning and development
Engage and retain families through outreach, follow-up and relationship-building
Deliver in-home support for families to strengthen caregiver-child interactions
Collaborate across the Community Life team to address service gaps and needs

What you need to succeed

Diploma or higher in early childhood, education, social work or similar
Good knowledge of Victorian Early Years Learning & Development Framework (VEYLDF) and play-based learning frameworks
Experience or understanding of supported playgroups
Experience working with vulnerable or diverse families
Group facilitation and adult learning capability
Understanding of Child Safe Standards and family violence frameworks

Pre-Employment Requirements
