Communications Specialist - Macquarie Park

Make a real difference working within our Executive Team as a Communications Specialist, partnering with leaders to support the teams who make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with hearing and vision loss.

This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity (38 hours per week) located onsite at our Macquarie Park Headquarters. The role reports directly to the Chief Executive and works closely with the Senior Communications Specialist.

Job Description

What we can offer you:

Salary of up to $114,778+ Super, with 100% salary packaging to maximise your take home pay
Generous leave entitlements including 2 weeks paid Christmas leave in addition to 4 weeks annual leave, plus extensive personal/carer's leave

You’ll make a difference in this role by:

Developing and executing internal communication strategies and action plans for projects, campaigns and initiatives.
Managing and maintaining staff communication channels, including the intranet, to ensure content is current, accurate, engaging, accessible and aligned with organisational priorities.
Writing, reviewing, editing and/or publishing content across a range of internal and external communication channels, including email, staff intranet, social media, media, enewsletters and website, to strengthen engagement, reflect the NextSense brand and editorial style and support organisational priorities.
Building and maintaining strong working relationships with managers and staff across the organisation to share stories and research and promote the breadth of NextSense services, programs and impact.
Providing advice and guidance on messaging, organisational and reputational risks, timing and channels.
Tracking and reporting on communication activities to inform future decision making.
Working collaboratively with the Fundraising and Marketing and Engagement teams to support fundraising and marketing campaigns and activity.
Reviewing and providing guidance on content to ensure alignment with NextSense brand standards and tone of voice.
Supporting the monitoring of media and social media coverage to identify opportunities, risks and issues.
Supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of select key organisational events, as required.
Undertaking other duties, projects and responsibilities as reasonably directed by the manager, consistent with the scope and level of the role.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

Bachelor of Communications, Journalism or relevant undergraduate qualification(s)
Minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in a communications or engagement role.
Extensive experience in internal communications and engagement.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to translate complex information into meaningful content for a range of different stakeholders.
Sensitivity to issues associated with the publication of material about children and adults with disabilities.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build effective stakeholder relationships.
High level of professionalism, discretion and judgement.
Experience using SharePoint and/or other content management systems (Preferred)
Experience using a variety of marketing software platforms (e.g., MailChimp, Sprout Social, etc.) to manage and execute communication campaigns (Preferred).
Knowledge and/or experience in the hearing or vision loss sector, healthcare or wider disability sector (Preferred).
Commitment to child protection and safeguarding policies and legislation, as amended from time to time.
