This is a senior leadership opportunity within a rapidly growing infrastructure group that has expanded through acquisition and is now focused on unlocking the full potential of its operating businesses.
You will step into a General Manager Queensland role overseeing a significant civil contracting platform with a combined annual revenue of approximately $200 million, supported by a well-capitalised parent organisation with a clear mandate for long-term growth.
IBG is a majority Indigenous owned recruitment business registered with Supply Nation, specialising in civil engineering, infrastructure, construction and major project recruitment. We partner closely with contractors, engineering consultancies and delivery organisations to place high quality technical professionals.
Our approach is relationship led and commercially grounded, built on practical industry experience and a clear understanding of how complex projects are delivered.
The businesses are established, self-performing civil contractors with strong delivery capability, experienced teams, owned plant fleets, and long-term client relationships across major infrastructure and construction markets.
The platform is performing, but not yet fully optimised. The next phase is about lifting performance, sharpening execution and scaling capability.
The Opportunity
You will take full responsibility for unimpeded end-to-end business performance, including operations, commercial outcomes, people leadership, plant performance, safety, systems and growth.
Working closely with group leadership, you will be trusted to:
-
Improve operational efficiency, productivity and project delivery outcomes
-
Strengthen commercial discipline, margin performance and cost control
-
Lift plant utilisation, fleet strategy and maintenance effectiveness
-
Build leadership capability across operational and commercial teams
-
Improve systems, reporting, governance and accountability
-
Deepen key client relationships and market positioning
-
Support integration into a broader national group structure
-
Identify and deliver sustainable growth opportunities
This is a hands-on leadership role in a self-performing contracting environment. Strong understanding of plant-heavy delivery models, production rates, utilisation and cost drivers is essential.
About You
You are likely operating at General Manager, Operations Manager, Regional Manager or senior construction leadership level within civil infrastructure, earthworks, transport, utilities or mining-related contracting environments, ideally in Queensland.
You bring:
-
Proven experience leading large operational teams in civil construction
-
Strong commercial and P&L accountability
-
Deep understanding of self-perform, plant-intensive delivery models
-
Ability to improve performance across safety, cost, productivity and margin
-
Credibility with supervisors through to executive stakeholders
-
Practical leadership style with strong commercial judgement
-
Experience driving accountability, culture and operational discipline
-
You are comfortable in complex, fast-moving environments where performance expectations are high and improvement is expected, not optional.
Why This Role Stands Out
This is not a turnaround mandate and it is not a caretaker role.
You will be joining at a point where scale already exists, capability is proven, and the focus is now on optimisation, integration and growth acceleration.
You will have access to the resources, capital and strategic support of a larger infrastructure group, combined with the autonomy to lead operationally at ground level.
For a high-performing civil leader, this represents a rare opportunity to step into meaningful scale, shape performance outcomes and influence the trajectory of a substantial infrastructure platform.
