Pastry Chef: Fixed-Term Full Time (Maternity Leave Contract)

Henry’s Bakery Café is a well-established retail and wholesale bakery known for producing high-quality breads, pies, cakes, pastries, and baked goods enjoyed throughout our local community. We are proud of our reputation for quality, consistency, and strong teamwork, and we are looking for a skilled Pastry Chef to join our production team on a fixed-term maternity leave contract commencing in August.

About the Role

As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for producing a wide range of pastries, cakes, slices, desserts, and sweet baked goods to a consistently high standard. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is passionate about pastry, takes pride in their craft, and enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment.

This is a full-time fixed-term contract to cover a period of maternity leave, commencing in August.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, bake, decorate, and finish a variety of pastries, cakes, slices, desserts, tarts, biscuits, and other sweet baked goods.
Prepare fillings, creams, custards, icings, glazes, and other pastry components.
Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and product standards across all products.
Follow recipes, production schedules, and preparation procedures accurately.
Monitor product quality throughout all stages of production.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation requirements.
Work collaboratively with the bakery team to meet daily production targets.
Assist with seasonal, specialty, and custom product production as required.

About You

Previous experience as a Pastry Chef or Pastry Cook in a commercial bakery, café, hotel, or patisserie.
Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, and dessert production.
Experience decorating cakes and finishing pastry products to a high standard.
Commitment to producing consistent, high-quality products.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Positive, team-focused attitude with good communication skills.
Comfortable working early morning shifts.

What's on Offer

Full-time fixed-term maternity leave contract (upto 1 year) commencing in August
Salary: $72,500 per annum (pro rata) plus superannuation
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday roster
Thursday and Sunday off each week
Hours: 3:00am – 11:00am
