About the Role
The Stakeholder Engagement Officer supports the Invasive Invertebrates Biosecurity team by delivering clear, accessible and visually engaging communication that strengthens public understanding and industry confidence. You’ll help design and produce communication materials, coordinate events, manage enquiries and support the delivery of communication and engagement plans.
A key part of the role is translating technical biosecurity information into simple, relatable messages for diverse audiences. You’ll use your visual literacy, attention to detail and design capability to create content that is accurate, consistent and easy to understand. You may be called upon to deliver the subject matter confidently in a range of formats, from face-to-face engagement, toolbox talks, seminars, and forums. You’ll also contribute to training and emergency management activities, helping ensure the team is prepared, informed and able to respond effectively.
About You
As our ideal candidate, you will bring:
- Strong visual literacy — the ability to design, interpret and refine visual content that enhances understanding.
- Exceptional attention to detail — ensuring accuracy, accessibility and consistency across all communication.
- Skill in translating technical language — develop subject matter expertise and turning complex biosecurity concepts into clear, relatable messages.
- Graphic design capability — supporting the creation of digital assets, fact sheets, infographics and event materials.
- Confident communication skills — comfortable speaking at events, supporting training and engaging with the public.
- Emergency management awareness — able to assist with training, preparedness and communication during response activities.
Essential criteria:
- Valid driver's licence
- Emergency management experience and possession of current emergency qualifications or a willingness to obtain qualifications and competencies in emergency management.
- Willingness and ability to undertake frequent travel across NSW including overnight (focus on North Coast).
