Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior IT Support Technician located in our Geelong office, who will be responsible for the maintenance, administration, and technical support of DreamIT Host’s core hosting infrastructure in the Greater Geelong region. The role ensures the reliability, performance, and security of hosted services, while also providing advanced technical assistance to clients. A key focus is delivering timely and effective support for escalated issues (L2/L3), system stability, and continuous service improvement.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Infrastructure Support – Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based hosting infrastructure (including Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed, MySQL/MariaDB, DNS, FTP, and Exim).
- Advanced Client Support (L2/L3) – Handle complex technical queries via helpdesk, live chat, and phone. Address client issues involving websites, email, control panels (e.g., cPanel/WHM, Plesk), DNS, and databases.
- System Monitoring & Incident Management – Use monitoring software tools to proactively monitor performance and resolve alerts.
- Control Panel Administration – Manage and troubleshoot web hosting control panels and configurations to ensure client stability and ease of use.
- Security & Patch Management – Maintain system integrity through patching, SSL lifecycle management, firewall configuration, and basic intrusion prevention.
- Backups & Disaster Recovery – Support backup routines and recovery processes to ensure business continuity for hosting clients.
- Virtualisation Support – Administer virtual environments
- Technical Documentation & Client Education – Maintain internal documentation and contribute to the client knowledge base with guides, FAQs, and support resources.
- Client Configuration Support – Provide guidance on software setup, performance optimisation, and secure system usage.
- Automation & Scripting – Occasionally develop or maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) to streamline repetitive administrative or monitoring tasks.
- Technology Evaluation – Participate in reviewing new tools or platforms to improve internal systems or client offerings.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree, or Advanced Diploma, or Diploma and one year of experience, or at least four years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
