Full Job Description

You will help manage office operations, support and coordinate staff, oversee constituent casework and correspondence, and act as a key point of contact between the Member, government departments, ministerial offices, community organisations, and constituents. The role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes genuine ownership of their work, and cares about delivering for the local community.

You will work closely with the Member and play a leading role in the smooth running of the office, its communications, and its community and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

Help lead the daily operations and administration of the electorate office, ensuring it runs efficiently and to a high standard.
Help coordinate, support, and supervise office staff, including delegating tasks, managing workflow, and supporting professional development.
Manage the Member's correspondence, including drafting letters, briefings, and responses to constituents, councils, government departments, and stakeholders.
Oversee constituent casework, ensuring enquiries and issues are handled promptly, sensitively, and to resolution.
Manage the Member's diary, appointments, and commitments, coordinating scheduling across competing priorities.
Help plan and coordinate community events, functions, and the Member's engagements across the electorate.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with community groups, sporting clubs, local government, ministerial offices, and other stakeholders.
Support the office's communications, including social media, newsletters, and community-facing materials.
Help manage office budgets, records, and administrative and compliance requirements.
Provide high-level, discreet support to the Member across a wide range of matters.

You are an organised, capable, and personable professional who can juggle multiple competing priorities. You bring sound judgement, discretion, and a genuine commitment to serving the local community.

How to applySelection criteria

Strong organisational and time management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft correspondence and communications to a high standard.
Demonstrated experience in office administration, operations, or a similar coordination role.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people and organisations.
The ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
Experience supervising or coordinating staff (desirable).
An understanding of, or interest in, the work of a Member of Parliament and the local community of the King electorate (desirable).
