Practice Nurses – Three Casual Positions

Triple M Medical Cowra is seeking three compassionate, clinically capable and community-minded Practice Nurses to join our new general practice in Cowra.
These are casual positions with regular rostered hours available. The successful applicants will play an important role in developing and delivering high-quality nurse-led services for patients in Cowra and the surrounding region.

Our practice will offer a broad range of general practice, preventive health, chronic disease management, treatment room and nurse-led services. We are looking for nurses who would like to contribute to the development of these services and build meaningful, long-term relationships with patients.

About the Role
The Practice Nurses will work collaboratively with the doctors, Practice Manager, reception team and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, efficient and patient-centred care.
The role will include providing treatment room services, preventive healthcare, chronic disease support, patient education and nurse-led clinics.
Depending on qualifications, experience and competency, responsibilities may include:
- Providing compassionate and professional nursing care to patients of all ages
- Conducting initial patient assessments and appropriate clinical triage
- Supporting the assessment and management of new patients
- Performing observations, clinical assessments and documenting findings accurately
- Assisting with chronic disease management plans and care plan reviews
- Conducting health assessments and preventive health activities
- Establishing intravenous access and performing cannulation
- Running iron infusion and other approved infusion clinics in accordance with practice protocols, clinical guidelines and medical oversight requirements
- Monitoring patients before, during and after infusions
- Administering vaccinations where appropriately qualified and authorised
- Performing wound assessments, dressings and ongoing management of acute and chronic wounds
- Assisting with diabetes education and ongoing diabetes management
- Providing breastfeeding and lactation support where appropriately qualified
- Performing ECGs, spirometry and other clinical investigations
- Assisting with recalls, reminders and follow-up of clinical results
- Maintaining emergency equipment, treatment room stock and clinical supplies
- Supporting infection prevention and control processes
- Maintaining accurate, timely and professional clinical documentation
- Ensuring nursing records, consent processes and clinical procedures are consistent with RACGP accreditation standards
- Assisting with practice quality improvement activities and clinical audits
- Identifying opportunities to develop useful nurse-led services for the community
- Contributing to efficient and financially sustainable practice services through appropriate nursing clinics and patient care programs
About You
Previous experience as a general practice nurse would be highly regarded but is not essential.
We also welcome applications from nurses with experience in hospital, community health, emergency care, aged care, outpatient clinics, chronic disease management, paediatrics, women’s health or other relevant clinical settings.

- Good computer skills and the ability to learn clinical software
- Excellent organisation, time management and clinical documentation skills
- A proactive approach to developing and delivering nurse-led services
- The ability to work collaboratively with doctors, administration staff and external healthcare providers
- An understanding of professional boundaries, privacy and patient confidentiality
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must hold:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse with AHPRA
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Current First Aid certification
- Current Australian working rights
- Appropriate professional indemnity insurance where required
The following qualifications and experience would be highly regarded:
- Previous general practice nursing experience
- Current immunisation qualification or authorisation
- Experience with intravenous cannulation
- Experience managing iron infusions or other intravenous infusions
- Experience completing chronic disease management plans
- Experience conducting health assessments
- Diabetes educator qualifications or diabetes education experience
- Lactation consultant qualifications
- Experience managing complex or chronic wounds
- Experience in childhood, adult and travel vaccinations
- Experience with spirometry and ECG procedures
- Experience with clinical triage and emergency response
- Knowledge of Medicare-funded nursing services and general practice billing
- Familiarity with RACGP accreditation standards and quality improvement activities
Training can be provided in areas such as spirometry, ECG procedures, clinical software, general practice workflows and relevant practice protocols.
