ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:

The sterilising department at East Melbourne services 11 Operating Theatres, Uro/Gynae Unit and some external customers. The Department covers a variety of specialties including Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Plastics, General surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Opthalmology & Breast surgery.

Responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to);

Collect, clean and decontaminate equipment used by the Operating Suite and Clinical units on a daily basis.
Load and unload ultrasonic, instrument washers, dryers and sterilisers according to instructions and general duties list.
Inspect and reassemble items as required.
Prepare, check and package instruments and loan sets to be sterilised.
Prepare operating theatre set-ups for the following days surgeries (desirable)

ABOUT YOU:

As an outstanding Instrument Technician, your skills will include:

Instrument technician qualification, Certificate III or IV (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
Must have a minimum of 1 year experience working as a Grade III Instrument Technician or 3 years as a Grade IV Instrument Technician
Must be able to undertake work of a more complex nature within established procedures and guidelines
Ability to rotate through all areas of the department
Must work a rotating roster (days, evenings & night shifts)
Experience in loans department and theatre set-ups desirable
