What the Role Involves
This is a diverse and challenging role focused on the design, build, assembly, and configuration of environmental monitoring systems, supplied to ALS offices across Australia and directly to external clients — all with the support of a dedicated mentor.
Day-to-day responsibilities may include:
Design, manufacture, and testing of automated monitoring systems
Wiring, soldering, and assembly of terminals and 12V control panels
Producing and maintaining technical documentation
Providing technical support to field staff, project teams, and clients
General technical and administrative duties
Project management and procurement
Overseas travel for field installation of monitoring stations (for the right candidate)
What We're Looking For
We're open to candidates at a trainee to intermediate experience level. You don't need to tick every box — what matters most is your attitude, aptitude, and willingness to grow.
Essential:
Minimum Year 12 secondary education, with strengths in Science, English, and/or Mathematics
Competent computer skills with a practical and technical mindset
Strong work ethic, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to use hand and power tools to fabricate and fit out instrument panels
Highly Regarded:
Interest in telemetry communications — satellite, 4G, or IoT technologies
Interest or experience in datalogger coding/programming (e.g., CRBasic)
Experience using AutoCAD
Background in a similar workplace or industry
Relevant trade and/or tertiary qualification
