Hawker College is seeking applications for a dynamic Administration Assistant – Receipting to join its team for a full-time temporary role commencing as soon as possible until 5 February 2027, with possibility of extension and/or permanency.
Administration Assistants play a key role in supporting the efficient day-to-day operations of the school. Working closely with the Business Manager, School Leadership team and teaching staff, you will provide high-quality administrative, financial and customer service support that contributes to positive outcomes for students and the broader school community
In this role, you will support a range of finance and administration functions, including receipting, banking, reconciliations, invoices, purchase orders and financial reporting. You will also manage enquiries, assist with school communications, maintain accurate records and use school systems such as Xero and Sentral to support business and operational requirements.
You will be part of a collaborative administration team, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring a professional, welcoming and responsive service for students, families, staff and external stakeholders.

About the role:
As an Administration Assistant, you will:
- Provide a range of administrative, secretariat and executive support services to the Business Manager, School Leadership Team and teaching staff.

Deliver excellent customer service and act as a key point of contact for students, parents/carers, staff and external stakeholders, resolving enquiries and providing accurate information.

Coordinate and prepare school communications, including newsletters, correspondence, circulars and promotional materials for publication and distribution.

Monitor correspondence, workflows and administrative processes to ensure deadlines are met and matters are actioned in a timely manner.

Manage and support finance processes including receipting of payments, bank reconciliations, banking, invoices and purchase orders.

Assist with financial reporting requirements, including financial estimates, end-of-month reporting and six-monthly financial reports.

Support the Business Manager in maintaining the school's financial and administrative systems in accordance with Directorate policies and procedures.

Maintain accurate records and provide administrative support using school-based systems including Xero and Sentral.

Contribute to business planning, continuous improvement initiatives and the development of effective administrative practices and procedures.

Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information and records.

Work collaboratively as part of the school administrative team to support positive educational outcomes for students.

Maintain a safe and healthy work environment and comply with workplace health and safety requirements.
What we’re looking for:
- Relevant qualifications in finance or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

A caring, student‑centred approach, with a genuine interest in supporting children and young people in their learning.

Demonstrated ability to work safely with equipment and follow workplace health and safety procedures.

Effective teamwork and reliability, with good organisational and time‑management skills.

Eligibility requirements:
MANDATORY
- A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration (or eligibility to apply)

Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a valid working visa.
DESIRABLE

Financial qualifications or relevant experience

Experience in an administration role.

Knowledge of school specific software including Sentral and Xero.

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

Business qualifications or experience in a business-related role
First Aid Certificate or a willingness to undertake appropriate training
