THE TRAVEL SHOP CAIRNS IS SEEKING AN IN-SHOP SALES CONSULTANT TO JOIN OUR TEAM IN FAR NORTH QUEENSLAND!

The Position

Travel sales consultant, based locally in Cairns.

The Travel Shop is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic individual to join our vibrant sales team in Cairns! Work in a dynamic retail environment, helping holidaymakers plan unforgettable trips by selling incredible tours and experiences across Australia. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused role with excellent people skills.

You’ll be based solely in our Cairns store, assisting customers in person while also handling online sales and inquiries. We’re looking for a long-term team member who plans on staying in Cairns for the next couple of years. For the right candidate, future remote work opportunities are possible.

Your Responsibilities

As an in-store travel consultant, your responsibilities will include:

Providing exceptional customer service (both in-store and online)
Working in online chats
Selling tours and experiences for destinations in Cairns and the East Coast
Handling admin and data entry
Responding to emails and phone calls
Managing cash handling and store operations
Liaising with tour operators and representatives to book tours
Assisting with store opening and closing
Restocking and stickering brochures
General housekeeping duties to keep the shop running smoothly

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

Flexibility and a positive, engaging personality
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with customers
A good knowledge of local tours and destinations (especially along the East Coast)
Marketing skills are a plus
Strong typing skills and attention to detail
The ability to retain and build relationships with customers, particularly through online follow-ups
A love for travel!

As a travel consultant, you’ll work closely with customers, helping them build itineraries, sell experiences, and design their dream getaways in tropical paradise! You'll also focus on customer retention, following up with past clients to encourage repeat bookings and referrals.

We’re looking for vibrant, creative individuals who bring energy and enthusiasm to the team!
