About The Role
Avant Business Solutions are a premium provider of medical practice management services across Australia. We support a variety of medical specialist, as well as general and surgical practices, by providing off-site administration and practice management services.
We are seeking an experienced and people-focused leader to establish and lead a newly created team of Medical Receptionists in our Brisbane office. This is an exciting opportunity to shape team culture, build capability and create an environment where people can thrive while delivering exceptional service to our clients.
As the leader of this growing team, you'll play a key role in setting expectations, coaching and developing team members, and driving a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. We're looking for someone who enjoys building high-performing teams, leading through change and creating positive employee experiences. Experience within a medical or healthcare environment is essential, with strong working knowledge of Medicare, Private Health Funds, and Workcover/TAC billing and claims processes. You'll also need hands-on experience with medical practice management software (experience across multiple platforms highly regarded), along with a sound understanding of medical practice workflows. You'll be supported with comprehensive training to build your knowledge of our clients, services and systems, and will be comfortable learning a range of medical practice management platforms and technologies.
Key Accountabilities

Lead, coach and develop a team of Medical Receptionists, fostering a positive, high-performing and customer-focused culture.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, clinical staff and other key stakeholders to deliver an exceptional service experience.
Oversee team operations, including workforce planning, rostering, recruitment, onboarding and performance management.
Monitor service delivery, KPI performance and emerging risks, implementing solutions and continuous improvement initiatives where required.
Ensure operational processes, documentation and systems are maintained, compliant and fit for purpose.
Identify opportunities to improve team effectiveness, employee engagement and customer outcomes.

Key Capabilities

Proven experience leading, coaching and developing teams in a service-driven environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of Medicare, health fund billing/claims, and Workcover/TAC processes.
Hands-on experience with medical practice management or billing software (minimum one system required, multiple systems highly regarded).
Sound understanding of medical practice workflows and day-to-day operations. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, solve problems and drive continuous improvement.
Commercially minded, with experience monitoring performance metrics and operational effectiveness.
Confident using technology and learning new systems, including Microsoft Office and industry-specific software.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage, support and motivate others.\
Highly organised, adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
