You will deliver high quality, contemporary and engaging curriculum across Years 7-12, while strengthening the profile, growth, and excellence of the Arts.
Your opportunity
We are seeking a creative, strategic, and highly organised Head of Department - The Arts to lead curriculum and teaching and learning across the Arts faculty and support the continued growth of the Arts programs.
This role suits an experienced Arts educator who can inspire staff, strengthen student engagement and achievement, and promote the Arts as a visible and valued part of Kedron SHS's culture, identity, and community connection.
The successful applicant will have the following responsibilities:
Deliver a high quality, aligned and engaging Arts curriculum for Years 7-12
Strengthen curriculum planning, assessment, moderation, and quality assurance
Coach, mentor and support Arts teachers to build capability and improve student outcomes
Lead the Arts, including performances, showcases, exhibitions, and enrichment opportunities
Use student data on achievement, engagement, and participation to inform improvement priorities
Promote innovative, contemporary, and inclusive Arts pedagogy that builds creativity, confidence, agency, and achievement
Manage faculty operations including staffing, budgets, resources, facilities, events, and risk management
Build partnerships with families, feeder schools, cultural organisations, industry, and the wider community
Contribute to whole-school priorities as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team
The panel are seeking an applicant who demonstrates:
Passion for the Arts with a clear vision for contemporary Arts education
Strong curriculum leadership in teaching, learning, assessment, and moderation
Ability to lead, coach and develop staff in a collaborative environment
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships across the school community
High level organisation and ability to manage competing priorities, events, and deadlines
Data informed approach to improving student engagement, participation, and achievement
Creativity, initiative, professional judgement, and commitment to continuous improvement
Alignment with Kedron SHS values, culture, and commitment to excellence and inclusion
Desirable experience (in one or more of the following areas):
Leading an Arts excellence program, academy, signature program, or enrichment pathway
Coordinating performances, productions, concerts, exhibitions, showcases, and school events
Experience across Music, Drama, Dance, Visual Art, Media Arts, or Creative Industries
Developing partnerships with community, industry, tertiary, cultural or feeder school partners
Promoting Arts programs through events, engagement activities, or enrolment processes
Supporting creative pathways including portfolio development, VET options, and tertiary pathways
