About us

The Department of Treasury and Finance is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.

What we do is integral to the Government’s decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer’s money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.

We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.

We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.

The work area

This role sits within the Members of Parliament Resources and Transparency (MPRT) implementation team which is part of the Economic business unit. The MPRT team is responsible for leading and supporting the implementation the recommendations of the Independent Review of Employment arrangements of Electorate Officers and broader MPRT framework for DTF.

The opportunity

Are you passionate about collaborating with a range of stakeholders to deliver real project outcomes? We are looking for a motivated, experienced principal project officer to join us and make a difference for Western Australia, through the delivery of the MPRT framework to improve the transparency and effectiveness of support provided to Members of Parliament. In this role, you will:

work closely with project leads, to lead and deliver the MPRT framework project. This will involve and leading, advising on and supporting the scoping, planning, management and evaluation of project work packages and initiatives;
collaborate with internal business units across DTF and external stakeholders across the public sector, applying effective negotiation and engagement strategies to drive project outcomes;
support coordinated, whole-of-department approaches to strategic initiatives and organisational priorities; and
play a leading role in developing and implementing comprehensive project compliance, risk management and governance strategies.

We currently have one (1) fixed term full-time position available for immediate commencement within the MPRT Team for the period up to 30 June 2027.
