Primary objective
The Business Manager provides strategic and operational leadership, advice and management support in the areas of finance, procurement,
administration, infrastructure, information technology and human resource management for non-teaching staff in a busy and demanding
primary special school environment, including liaison with centralised service providers.
Context statement
Forrest Parade School caters for up to 140 primary students who have been identified as having moderate and severe intellectual and/or
multiple disabilities. As member at Forrest Parade School, you are required to actively participate and contribute in the day-today
interactions of students using varied communication techniques. As a member of the leadership team you will also contribute to the
culture, vision and structures of the school and the creation of strong and positive partnerships with families and the community.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide and facilitate comprehensive advice on both corporate & school operational/administrative matters to the school leadership
team & staff, through the development and implementation of corporate and business support services including the development,
management and implementation of grant management systems; high level financial reporting and management through School
Resourcing Model; records management; internal controls and liaising with centralised service providers.
2. Assist the Principal with financial planning, Schools Resource Model budget management & implementation, Annual Planning
Scenarios, providing a high level of financial advice, reporting & legislative knowledge to the leadership team, school council.
3. Coordinate, facilitate & implement school procurement procedures in line with departmental policies & practices.
4. Coordinate, facilitate & implement the facility, infrastructure & asset management of the school, including grants management, asset
management, school repairs & maintenance programs & when relevant.
5. Implement an ongoing program of continuous improvement for corporate support systems and processes including proactive data
collection, analysis and performance monitoring and reporting, and ICT problem solving.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high level ability to analyse and provide strategic advice whilst facilitating the effective program delivery in the
following business support areas; financial, human resource, workplace health & safety, asset & records, procurement and facility
management in accordance with DoE policies and centralised service providers.
2. Demonstrated sound financial management to fulfil the legislative requirements of the school, incorporating the education system,
School’s budgeting processes under the Schools Resource Model Action Plan, Annual Planning Scenario and Projection Scenarios,
MyBiz,, Ci Aywhere, MS Excel & MS Office, to provide a high level of budgeting, reporting & data analysis.
3. Demonstrated extensive experience in the management of a service delivery team, including the management and coordination of
staff, (including a sound knowledge of the Educational Services Schools General Staff Award), resourcing, records and asset
management and implementation of an ongoing program of continuous improvement in line with the strategic goals of the school.
4. Demonstrated sound financial management and the coordination of facility repairs & maintenance programs, infrastructure
management (including project & contract management), facilitating Minor New Works programs and School Master Planning.
Desirable
1. Experience providing a variety of hardware and software ICT support and resolution.
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in office and financial management processes.
