We are seeking a highly capable Operations Planner to lead and optimise warehouse and distribution activities within a critical Defence logistics environment.
This role combines operational planning, analytical insight, and frontline leadership to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of warehousing and logistics services. You will act as a key link between operational teams, Defence stakeholders, and management, using data and process improvement to drive performance and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Planning & Execution
Plan and coordinate logistics to support Defence operations.
Plan daily activities to meet Defence requirements and contractual obligations.
Identify workflow improvements to optimise efficiency and service delivery.
Leadership & Team Coordination
Lead, coach, and support warehouse operators, storepersons, and administrative teams.
Allocate work, monitor performance, and ensure operational targets are met.
Promote a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Ensure adherence to WHS legislation, Defence protocols, and Toll safety systems.
Maintain compliance with hazardous goods handling, export controls, and environmental standards.
Oversee inspections, audits, and quality assurance activities.
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a key point of contact for Defence representatives and site stakeholders.
Resolve operational issues and respond to customer queries.
Build strong relationships to support contract success.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
Generate insights through reporting and performance analysis.
Drive process improvements and implement best practice workflows.
Provide accurate reporting to support compliance and decision-making.
About You
You are a proactive and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and can balance planning with operational leadership.
Experience & Knowledge
Experience in logistics, warehousing, or Defence-related environments.
Strong understanding of operational planning, inventory management, and performance metrics.
Experience working with ERP/WMS systems and data analysis.
Knowledge of WHS, compliance, and quality frameworks.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Experience with Defence Protected Network.
Key Skills
Strong planning, organisational, and coordination skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
Effective communicator with strong stakeholder engagement capability.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
