Primary objective
The role of the Technical Business Analyst will encompass the management and development of new digital solutions and
enhancement of existing ones. This includes scoping, design, development, testing, and validation of solutions. In this role, you will
also contribute to technology enhancements driven by business needs, aiding in the realization of tangible improvements. This
position works with Agency Business Systems – Human and Shared Services team supporting clients in NT Health, Department of
Education, Territory Families Housing and Communities and Department of Corporate and Digital Development.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Conduct thorough analysis of business processes, identifying areas for improvement and optimization. Collaborate with
stakeholders to understand their needs and objectives. Translate these business requirements into detailed functional
specifications and process maps to guide the development of technical solutions.
2. Create and maintain technical and project documentation, including system specifications, data models, process flow diagrams,
project initiation and project tasking.
3. Provide technical advice and expertise regarding low code and small business systems including the assessment, analysis,
design, development, testing, documentation, and implementation of solutions in accordance with approved policies and
procedures.
4. Leverage data analysis and database design skills in the system development process. This involves building databases,
implementing changes to existing databases, and evaluating databases to enhance and inform business and technical
requirements.
5. Utilize low-code platforms to develop robust and scalable business applications that align with business requirements. This
involves designing, building, and testing low code technology applications, ensuring they meet functional specifications and
business needs.
6. Conduct testing to validate that the implemented systems meet the defined requirements.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience in conceptualising, designing, and building technical solutions to meet business needs, ideally using low code
technology, including the ability to manage systems and unit testing involving stakeholders.
2. Demonstrated experience in project management and business analysis including collaborating with key stakeholders to
understand their business needs and translating these needs into detailed technical specifications.
3. Fundamental skills in utilising SQL for database querying, design, manipulation, and analysis. This includes the ability to write
SQL queries to extract data, understand patterns, and make data-driven recommendations for system design and analysis.
4. Experience in the creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation, including system specifications, data
models, and process flow diagrams.
5. Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and demonstrated success cultivating productive working
relationships with people of diverse professional and cultural backgrounds with the ability to work in a team and independently.
6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude, which emulates DCDD values of being professional, accountable, honest, respectful,
and innovative. Ability to exercise confidentiality and deal with sensitive issues.
Desirable
1. Relevant Tertiary qualifications e.g., Degree in Business Management/Information Technology (IT), Software Engineering.
