Are you a creative and practical graphic designer who enjoys turning complex information into clear, engaging and accessible visual communications?

DEECA’s Marketing and Creative Services team is looking for a Graphic Designer to join the team on a 12-month fixed term basis. This role will support the delivery of high-quality design work across print, digital and campaign channels, helping communicate important departmental work to staff, stakeholders and the Victorian community.

Working within a busy in-house creative team, you will develop a wide range of visual communication materials, including social media assets, campaign collateral, iconography, infographics, long-form publications, reports, presentations and other digital and print outputs.

You will work closely with designers, marketing and campaign advisers, video producers, digital specialists and internal stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose creative solutions that align with DEECA, Victorian Government, accessibility and inclusion requirements.

About the role

In this role, you will:

develop engaging visual content for DEECA’s online and offline channels
produce high-quality design outputs across digital, print, campaign and publication formats
interpret briefs and provide practical design advice to internal stakeholders
prepare accessible, brand-aligned and customer-focused creative materials
support the development of templates, tools and resources that strengthen DEECA’s visual communication
work both independently and collaboratively as part of the broader Marketing and Creative Services team
contribute to a positive, responsive and service-focused creative studio environment.

About you

You will bring strong graphic design capability, sound judgement and the ability to manage multiple jobs in a fast-paced environment. You will be confident in interpreting briefs, working to deadlines and communicating clearly with stakeholders throughout the design process.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

Extensive experience and proficiency in the development and delivery of high-quality graphic design materials for a range of digital and print channels, including social media assets, campaign collateral, iconography, infographics, long-form layouts, reports and other visual communication materials.
Highly proficient skills using Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat, with a strong understanding of layout, typography, visual hierarchy and accessibility.
Demonstrated ability to interpret briefs, manage multiple design jobs, work to agreed timelines, communicate clearly with stakeholders and deliver fit-for-purpose design solutions that support customer-focused communication outcomes.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Word and Excel, and experience using Canva, Asana and Basecamp would be highly desirable.
Working knowledge of website editing and content management systems, including Squiz Matrix and SharePoint, together with experience supporting the transition of visual communication materials into accessible digital formats and preparing graphic assets for effective use across digital channels, would be highly regarded.

This is a fixed term position available until 27 August 2027. The work location for this position is 2 Lonsdale Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
