A little about the role

Reporting to the Family Services Senior Practitioner, the Family Services Practitioner will work closely with families, offering early intervention and prevention support to reduce risks to children, strengthen family capabilities, and improve outcomes for both children and their families.

Some key responsibilities include:

Plan and co-facilitate play groups, activities and Baby College sessions that build relationships and support positive child development. Baby College is a program supporting vulnerable mothers during prenatal and early postnatal periods.
Ensure children safety and welfare is always the top priority, seeking their input on decisions affecting them, providing support in an inclusive and trauma-informed way, and responding promptly to any concerns or incidents.
Work in partnership with the broader family services team and external stakeholders including the Department and other service providers that are a part of the Our Place initiative and Early Help program.
Conduct thorough assessments of children's development and parental capabilities, developing targeted, time-limited goals and interventions.
Maintain accurate and timely records in KAA’s systems to support the ongoing evaluation of the Early Help program and program continuity.
Contribute to a culture of continuous learning by applying the Key Assets Practice Framework and trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches

The base salary for this position is $88,090.08 - $94,788.72 (based on 1.0 FTE) + super + vehicle & fuel card + salary packaging options up to $15,900 per annum.

This is a permanent, part-time position working 4 days a week (0.8 FTE).

About you

You’re passionate about improving the lives of children and supporting family preservation through early intervention. You will be confident in providing a family-centered, strengths-based approach to parenting support, ultimately resulting in capacity building of participants in areas of antenatal, maternity systems and early childhood learning and development.

We’re looking for someone who:

Holds a recognised qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related field.
Has experience working in the early childhood, community services sector - experience in antenatal or maternity systems would be advantageous.
Communicates simply and effectively, both in writing and verbally, building trust and understanding with people from diverse backgrounds and with varying experience.
Can balance administrative tasks and direct support with care and attention to detail.
Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and frameworks in Child Protection services
