The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is seeking a proactive and highly organised Project Officer to join the Trade Skills area in a job share arrangement within the Trade Skills College and CIT Renewables. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional seeking a flexible work arrangement while contributing to innovative projects, industry partnerships and strategic initiatives.
Working closely with the College Director, College Leadership Team and a range of internal and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in supporting business operations, coordinating projects and driving outcomes that strengthen workforce capability and support emerging industry needs.
About the Role
As a Project Officer, you will provide high-level operational, project and business support across a diverse portfolio of activities. You will coordinate programs, projects, events and business functions while ensuring compliance with CIT and ACT Government requirements.
The role requires a confident and adaptable professional who can exercise sound judgement, manage competing priorities and foster productive stakeholder relationships. You will contribute to the implementation of renewable energy initiatives, support strategic decision-making through research and analysis, and assist in the delivery of projects that align with CIT's commitment to innovation, sustainability and industry engagement.
Working as part of a job share arrangement, you will collaborate closely with your counterpart to ensure seamless service delivery, effective communication and continuity across responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-level operational, project and business support to the College Director and College Leadership Team.

Coordinate programs, projects, events and business activities, ensuring effective planning, delivery and compliance.

Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, briefs, grant documentation and compliance records.

Support the implementation and monitoring of renewable energy projects, including milestones, deliverables, budgets and risk management activities.

Research, analyse and present information to support planning, decision-making and continuous improvement.

Build and maintain effective relationships with industry, government, community and educational stakeholders.

Manage complex, sensitive and time-critical matters with professionalism, discretion and accuracy.

Coordinate administrative processes and workflows that support efficient and consistent business operations.

Work collaboratively within the job share arrangement to maintain effective handovers, continuity of work and achievement of team objectives.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
The following qualifications and experience requirements apply to this position.

All CIT and ACTPS employees are required to complete a criminal history record check prior to employment.

No mandatory qualifications are prescribed under the Public Sector Management Act for administrative positions at this classification.

A qualification in vocational education is highly desirable.

Relevant experience in operational administration, executive support, governance, finance, records management, stakeholder coordination or a similar business support environment is highly desirable.

Experience supporting project delivery, stakeholder engagement, reporting, governance or business improvement activities in a complex organisational environment is highly desirable.
Notes: This is a temporary position available from 19 September 2026 until 18 September 2027 with a possibility of permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Temporary employment offered as a result of this advertisement may lead to permanency/promotion as per the Public Sector Management Standards, Section 14 – Direct appointment of employee – general, and Section 20 – Direct promotion - general and CIT Enterprise Agreements.
