Telehealth GP – Medicinal Cannabis

Remote | Flexible Hours | Work From Home Anywhere in Australia

Cannabis Doctors Tasmania is seeking an experienced doctor to join our growing team.

This is a fully remote opportunity offering genuine flexibility, strong clinical support, and the ability to provide meaningful care to patients with chronic and complex health conditions from the comfort of your own home.

Whether you are looking for a few hours per week alongside your existing role or a larger sessional commitment, we can tailor the position to suit your lifestyle.

No financial relationships with medication manufacturers
No prescribing targets or corporate KPIs

Our doctors are encouraged to practise within their own clinical judgement and comfort level. Some are more conservative than others, and that's exactly how it should be.

We focus on practising good medicine first and foremost, with medicinal cannabis being one of many tools available to improve patient outcomes.

What You Can Expect

Work entirely from home
Flexible scheduling between 8am and 9pm, 7 days per week
Minimum commitment of approximately 4 hours per week
Strong and consistent patient demand
Private billing clinic with no Medicare billing requirements
Comprehensive training and onboarding for new prescribers
Ongoing clinical support and mentoring
Dedicated administration team managing bookings, prescriptions, and patient communications
Unlimited leave and complete flexibility around your availability

We are currently experiencing significant patient demand and are actively looking to expand our medical team.

Remuneration

Doctors are paid a percentage of billings:

Typical appointment structure:

Initial consultations: 30 minutes ($139)
Follow-up consultations: 15 minutes ($99)

Indicative earnings:

Initial consultations only:
$166–181+ per hour
Follow-up consultations only:
$238–257+ per hour

Most doctors earn somewhere between these figures depending on their mix of initial and follow-up appointments. As patient relationships develop, the proportion of follow-up consultations generally increases.

About the Role

You will provide telehealth consultations to patients across Australia with chronic and treatment-resistant conditions.

Responsibilities include:

Conducting comprehensive medical assessments via telehealth
Reviewing previous treatments and medical history
Assessing suitability for medicinal cannabis where appropriate
Developing personalised management plans
Prescribing and monitoring treatment where clinically indicated
Providing ongoing follow-up care and review
Maintaining accurate clinical records
Collaborating with patients' regular GPs and healthcare teams

A key part of our model is communication and continuity of care. Patients receive detailed correspondence following appointments, and regular GPs are routinely kept informed through clinical letters.

Brand-agnostic prescribing
Patients are free to choose their preferred pharmacy
Focus on affordable treatment options where clinically appropriate
Structured follow-up and monitoring
Collaboration with the patient's existing healthcare providers
Encouragement of oils and oral formulations where appropriate, whilst recognising that some patients achieve better outcomes with inhaled therapies
Responsible prescribing practices and clear treatment boundaries

About You

You will have:

Current AHPRA registration
Minimum 3 years clinical experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Confidence using telehealth platforms and technology
Commitment to patient-centred care
Interest in chronic disease management and complex care

Previous medicinal cannabis prescribing experience is not required. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
