Position Description
This Position Description is a guide only and is not intended to be an exhaustive or exclusive list of the duties

Position Title Learning Enrichment Teacher (Junior School)

Reporting Manager Head of Learning Enrichment Junior School

Role Purpose All teachers have the responsibility to support Danebank’s aspiration and
intent, upholding its core values and Christian foundation.

The Learning Enrichment Teacher, as part of a wider Learning Enrichment
Team, will work with Junior School Students in Literacy Learning support,
identifying students’ learning needs and administering and coordinating
support programs for students.

The Learning Enrichment teacher delivers an inspiring and differentiated
learning program through high quality teaching in order to develop deep
understanding and develop students as reflective and powerful learners.
The teacher ensures professional compliance, supports policy and follows
school procedures and systems.

Every teacher is expected to be involved in the learning, student care,
outdoor education and co-curricular programs as these are pivotal to the
holistic development of each student.

Specific Duties and
Responsibilities

Actively support the Christian ethos of the school, modelling a Christian
example in all activities.

Create inclusive, safe and supportive learning environments that model
Christian world views.

Teaching and Learning

Maintain a sound understanding of the content and structure of

the NESA curriculum and contemporary learning.

Support students to learn how to learn, developing individuals as

self directed, powerful learners.

Plan and teach well-sequenced teaching and learning programs

that engage students and promote learning.

Provide rigorous academic learning, supporting students to achieve

their personal best and pursue learning growth through
personalisation of learning.

Implement best practice teaching and learning strategies

appropriate to the learning of the girls.

Monitor and assess student learning and growth and analyse data

to inform and improve teaching practice.

Inspire and engage students and to develop in them a love and

appreciation of mathematics.

Ensure that positive and constructive feedback is provided to

students in a timely manner to improve the students'
understanding.

Maintain all administrative records to a high standard including

programmes and registers, attendance, wellbeing, NCCD,
assessment and reports. Review and action incoming student
referrals.

Identify and monitor incoming EAL/D students via a range of

specialised assessment tools including formal and informal,
diagnostic and formative assessments.

Create and update EAL/D student Learning Profiles and ESL Scales.

Determine the need for students to be supported for the EAL/D

small group program.

Provide a New Arrival Program for students who are new to

Australia and provide resources and lesson adaptations for their
class teachers.

Provide Stage 2 and Stage 3 EAL/D programs which advance the

progression level of Oral Interaction, Reading and Responding and
Writing across all KLAs.

Produce or purchase resources required for the EAL/D program.
Lead small group instruction and work collaboratively with teachers

in the classroom.

Support classroom teachers in the implementation of personalised

learning practises.

Work closely with the students and parents in conjunction with our

Junior School bilingual teacher's aide.

Attend parent/teacher interviews, stage, faculty, and school

meetings as required.

Share updates to EAL/D policy and procedures and Professional

Development opportunities with staff.

Work in partnership with teachers to implement aspects of

learning plans for groups of students.

Lead small group instruction.
Adapt lessons for individual students under the guidance of their

subject teachers.

Professional Development

Share knowledge and resources, develop skills and ensure best

practice principles are applied across the Junior School and
Danebank’s professional learning community.

Actively seek appropriate and timely professional development.
Engage in the regular performance appraisal process and

professional development practices of the school.

Participate in accreditation processes.

Wellbeing

Adhere to a holistic approach to student learning, engaging with

the school’s Becoming Framework for student development.

Work in collaboration with Stage Coordinators and departmental

colleagues to address student management and behavioural issues.

Work collaboratively to deliver the Student Wellbeing programs,

refer students to specialist staff where required and liaise with
middle leaders as appropriate.

Establish rapport with students and provide ongoing

encouragement to support students’ emotional and social

wellbeing.

Maintain professional confidentiality on information about

students.

Provide the appropriate duty of care and supervision of students.

Communication and Engagement

Establish and maintain effective and respectful relationships with

students, staff and parents.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers.
Plan and participate in excursions.
Respond to parent enquiries regarding curriculum and student

matters in a timely manner to ensure positive outcomes for
student learning.

Prepare meaningful feedback and reports regularly to students and

parents.

Be available to assist students out of class where needed, via

negotiation between teacher and students.

Attend chapel services
Attend other School events (e.g. theatre productions) and maintain

an active connection with the broader community.

Any other duties as may be required by the Principal and/or Deputy
Principal Junior School.

Essential Qualifications Qualification in education

Accredited with NESA
Working with Children check required
Qualification in Teaching English to speakers of other languages

(e.g. TESOL)

Experience teaching Stages 2 and 3 EALD.
