We are currently seeking a highly motivated Mining Supervisor to join the team at Stratford Coal.

After nearly 30 years, Stratford completed coal extraction in 2024. The closure of Stratford is consistent with the planned and approved life of mining for the operations. Our team is currently preparing detailed closure plans. This includes confirming final rehabilitation and closure requirements with government regulators.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, you will be responsible for ensuring that shift operations are compliant with mining legislation and relevant environmental legislation. Leading a team of Mining Operators, you will drive high performance, operational excellence, and a strong safety culture as we progress mine closure activities across both the Stratford and Duralie mine sites.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive leadership experience in open cut mining, while exposure to mine closure will also be highly regarded.

To succeed in this role, you will also display the following skills and attributes:

Essential Criteria:

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:
A current Practicing Certificate as an Open Cut Examiner and a Certificate of Competency as an Open Cut Examiner.
Australian Drivers Licence (Manual).
Thorough understanding and knowledge of NSW Work Health and Safety legislation and the current NSW Work Health and Safety (mines and petroleum sites) legislation.
Proven experience leading an open cut production team in a Mining Supervisory role.
A very strong commitment to safety and the environment.
Demonstrated high level skills in risk management and hazard identification.
High level of communication and stakeholder management skills.
Extensive experience and the demonstrated ability to lead emergency responses across a wide variety of scenarios in open cut mining.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and adapt to challenges within a fast-paced environment; and
Proven ability to drive a positive safe culture and to lead the ‘Yancoal Our Way’.
