Position Information

Opening Day 1, Term 1, 2027, Jordan Springs High School will serve the growing communities of Jordan Springs and Ropes Crossing. Designed with a capacity for 1,000 students, initial enrolments will include Year 7 and Year 8 cohorts alongside three specialised support classes catering to students with diagnosed disabilities and additional learning needs. The school’s master plan accommodates anticipated future growth and incorporates state-of-the-art learning environments, a contemporary library, and versatile outdoor spaces that foster collaboration, wellbeing, and evidence-based instructional practices.

The educational framework will emphasise Explicit Teaching and talent development strategies consistent with the Department of Education’s High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) Policy. Located adjacent to Wianamatta Regional Park, the school will respectfully acknowledge and celebrate the cultural heritage of the Dharug people, working in close partnership with the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) to embed culturally responsive pedagogy and honour Aboriginal histories and cultures.

Serving a diverse, multicultural community where partner primary schools report between 44% and 63% of students from language backgrounds other than English, the school will prioritise equity and excellence, fostering a strong sense of belonging and forging authentic community partnerships.

This position offers a unique opportunity to join the foundation team and play a pivotal role in establishing the school from inception. Collaborating directly with the Foundation Principal and leadership team, staff will contribute to the development of whole-school systems, structures, curriculum, and pedagogical approaches that will define the school’s future.

The successful candidate will actively build robust professional relationships, contribute to a positive and inclusive culture, and support initiatives that enhance student engagement, achievement, and wellbeing. Opportunities exist to engage with key strategic priorities, including High Potential and Gifted Education, literacy and numeracy advancement, student voice initiatives, and inclusive educational practices.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate exemplary leadership and organisational skills, initiative, and the capacity to work proactively and collaboratively within a dynamic, evolving school environment. The successful applicant will commence at the beginning of Term 4 2026.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Capacity to lead the whole school timetable process and to lead the effective implementation and ongoing evaluation of school wide administrative systems that support wellbeing, attendance, reporting and daily organisation.

2. Demonstrated capacity to effectively inspire, lead and supervise staff with a range of teaching experience in curriculum delivery and innovative pedagogy across several curriculum areas. This includes the ability to lead the establishment of effective faculty systems which meet NESA requirements in teaching and learning programs, assessment practices and reporting in a new school context.

3. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to work as part of a Foundation Leadership Team. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with staff, students and the community, and contribute strategically to the establishment of an inclusive, high-performing school culture.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
