Yara Pilbara is part of Yara International, a global crop nutrition company. The Pilbara site is one of the world’s largest ammonia production facilities, with downstream processing through the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate plant, a joint venture with Orica. Are you ready to apply your knowledge in a real-world environment? Yara Pilbara is seeking motivated Graduate Engineers to join our 3-year fixed-term Graduate Program, gaining hands-on experience in a world-class ammonia and nitrates production facility.

This is a unique opportunity to develop your technical and professional capabilities while contributing to safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

About the Opportunity

As a Graduate Process Engineer, you will gain practical experience in day-to-day production operations, build technical expertise, and actively contribute to improving plant performance.

You will commence in January/February 2027, aligned with the completion of your university studies and subject to successfully obtaining your degree.

Throughout the program, you will:

Work on production and CAPEX projects in collaboration with operations and maintenance teams
Assist in reviewing process parameters and identifying improvement opportunities
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and support issue resolution
Contribute to updating procedures and engineering documentation (e.g. P&IDs)
Perform plant monitoring, data collection, and analysis
Coordinate closely with operators and maintenance personnel
Develop an understanding of Major Hazard Facility requirements and standards
Build capability in planning, budgeting, and cost control processes
Apply core chemical engineering principles, including reaction engineering, separation processes, mass and energy balances, and process control.
Complete required HESQ training, participate in emergency response activities, and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment (including opportunities to take on site emergency roles)

About You

We are looking for passionate graduates who are eager to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment.

To be successful, you will have:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with fluency in English essential
The ability to work effectively in a team environment
A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and development
Curiosity in using AI (MS CoPilot) to improve personal and team productivity
The ability to perform work responsibly, minimising risks and potential issues
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or permanent residency (temporary visa holders are not eligible)
A willingness to relocate to Karratha, WA for the duration of the program

Complimentary employer-provided housing or $46,000 per year Karratha housing allowance
$35,000 per year regional location allowance
Annual bonus - target of up to one month’s base salary
$1,000 per year Health and Wellness allowance
$3,000 per year utilities reimbursement (electricity/water) subject to eligibility
Flights for you and your dependents, twice per year (after initial service period)
Relocation assistance
6 months paid primary parental leave
Salary packaging available
